The background

Built on discipline: from New Orleans to the Air Force

Chad is a New Orleans native, originally from Louisiana, and today he is active in the Southern California community. His career in technology started in the U.S. Air Force, where he served six years as a Computer Security Program Manager, network security manager and cyber warfare expert, including time as a UN peacekeeper. He also holds the MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) credential.

The job was about protecting systems and data where a mistake actually mattered. It taught him that good security isn't one product or one setting. It's a habit: plan it, watch it every day, and fix problems before they spread.

The IT experience

33+ years in IT, from Air Force security to founder

After the Air Force, Chad moved into the business world, working on major accounts and with Fortune 500, Fortune 1000 and mid-market clients. He saw what enterprise-level IT could do, and how rarely small businesses got it. Large companies had security teams, monitoring and a plan for when something went wrong. A ten-person law office or a growing manufacturer usually had a part-time helper, a pile of old equipment and a phone number that didn't always get answered.

  • Management Consultant, International Network Services / Lucent (1998)

Major account sales and Fortune 500 business development.

  • Consulting Director

Led teams of up to 25 engineers at two California IT firms serving Fortune 1000 and mid-market clients.

  • Founder & CEO, Xonicwave

ITIL-based service delivery built on proactive monitoring, incident response and 99.9%+ uptime commitments.

  • Compliance depth

Experience with HIPAA, SOC 2 and state data-protection requirements. Xonicwave helps gather those requirements and build them into your technology; it doesn't certify or guarantee compliance.

  • Education

Degrees in IT, Information Systems Management and Computer Science. MCSE certified.

Why Xonicwave

Why Chad founded Xonicwave

In 2004 Chad started Xonicwave from scratch, with no loans, to close that gap. The idea was simple: put clients and employees first, answer the phone fast, and charge one fair, predictable price instead of nickel-and-diming people.

That idea still runs the company. Chad built Xonicwave as a full IT department for businesses that can't justify building one in-house. Clients get the strategy, the help desk, the network work and the security monitoring from one team that knows their setup, instead of a list of vendors that point at each other when something breaks.

He also chose to grow slowly and carefully. Xonicwave has kept 92% of its clients, many of them for more than 11 years. To Chad, that matters more than any sales number, because it means the work is good enough that people stay.

How Chad runs Xonicwave

Chad's approach to managed IT and cybersecurity

Chad's rule is that security shouldn't be an upgrade you have to ask for. So every Xonicwave plan is built around the same core:

Security on every plan.

Every client gets 24/7 security operations center (SOC) monitoring, and the alerts come to our own team. SentinelOne or Bitdefender endpoint protection and SaaS Alerts for Microsoft 365 and cloud apps are standard, not add-ons.

Real people on the phone.

Our help desk is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific, and the Titanium plan adds a 24/7 help desk.

A full-time, US-based team.

Every Xonicwave employee is full-time and based in the US. No part-time staff or outside contractors handle your monitoring, backups or security.

Your whole IT department.

We take full responsibility for your IT rather than splitting it with someone else.

One predictable price.

Plans start at $500 a month for your whole team, so you can budget for IT the way you budget for rent.

Plain English.

Chad expects every recommendation to be explained in words an owner can act on, without jargon or scare tactics.

Compliance

Security and compliance, the practical way

Many of our clients work under rules about how data must be protected, kept and reported. Chad's approach is to treat those rules as an engineering job. Whatever framework applies to your business, our team gathers the requirements from the framework itself and builds them into your technology: access controls, encryption, backups, monitoring and the records that show the work was done. Chad's own compliance experience includes HIPAA, SOC 2 and state data-protection requirements.

Xonicwave doesn't certify or guarantee compliance. Your business still owns its compliance, and legal and audit decisions stay with you and your advisors. Our part is making sure the technology side is set up, documented and kept up to date. For law firms, that includes legal hold and data retention: keeping email and files that may be needed for a case so they can't be deleted, and keeping other records for as long as your firm's policies say, then letting them go.
